"
As an artist, I see each piece is something greater than its
parts.  The ultimate gift is when someone comes up and touches one of my pieces and sees what I saw-something unique and beautiful- something that will be treasured as
a wearable work of art."

Silk is an organic material that has a unique feel; luxurious and supple to the touch.  The best ties to work with are those with body, as well.  I look far and wide for ties and materials that will give me the best results for each purpose.
I am continually surprised with new designs that seem to come from the ties themselves.

THE FOODIE APRON

Gourmet style meets function for him or her in elegant silk adorned with a silver tasting spoon and vintage linen bar towel from the Fairmont, San Francisco's landmark hotel.

I'm often asked about care for the silk on our original designs.
We never dry-clean silk.  It leaves a residue that will ultimately affect the wonderful hues.  As a rule, silk is remarkably resilient. The perception of silk as a treasured, fragile luxury fabric has been in error.  It’s a centuries old, strong, natural, durable and gorgeous material.
We soak our silk in a gentle product (we like OxiClean) and wash it as we would a wool sweater.  Rinse in cool water until it’s clear, roll in a towel (don’t wring) hang till dry.  Smooth any wrinkles with your hands and if necessary iron when slightly damp with a cool iron.  To spot clean, use a paintbrush to gently “paint” the diluted cleaning solution on the spot, (don’t soak) wait a few seconds and gently brush the area with a clean washcloth.  Natural fabrics like silk, cotton and linen will release most stains including chocolate, grease, tomato and your dog’s drool using this technique.

A Father...

Service medals and ties

Picture

This mid-sized bag is assembled from the ties of a beloved father who's passed on.  His daughters wanted something to positive to remember him by.   Peaking from the folds of silk are medals, his tie tack and even his Boy Scout pin.
